How it all started for Tim Schafer

Tim Schafer, the guy behind Grim Fandango and one of the key persons for Monkey Island. He's written a funny post about how he got into the industry 20 years ago.

I really recommend it: http://www.doublefine.com/site/comments/twenty_years_only_a_few_tears/ (8/10/2009)

What amazes me the most is that he actually got rejection mail on paper! Paper, that's high quality stuff! All we get nowadays are e-mails.

  1. What’s more crazy is that he still got them after 20years!

Haha, well, that’s one way to look at it. But I don’t think it’s all that strange. Either way, it’s really cool today. :)

  3. Well you know me. I don’t keep anything. Possessions are a form of prison!

More material belongings makes you a better person.

  5. Is it really that amazing? Email wasn’t at all an established communication way 20 years ago. I still had to write a handwritten CV in 2004 since the employee explicitly asked for it :p

Oh, and there was this professor at my university who told me to come in person when I want a fast answer since I can’t expect him to check his email more than once per month >.>
